Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy explains what personal information Tailored Website Solutions ("TWS") collects through tailoredwebsitesolutions.co.za, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. TWS is a sole proprietor business run by Rika Taylor, who is also TWS's information officer under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

The policy covers this website and anything you share with TWS through it, or by email, WhatsApp or phone. If you are a client and TWS handles your customers' information on a site it builds, hosts or maintains, you are responsible for that information. TWS only processes it for you, on your instructions.

By using the website, you agree to this policy. TWS may update it, and the date at the top shows the latest version.

Information TWS collects

TWS collects only what it needs. When it asks you for personal information, it tells you why at that point.

  • Contact details and messages: your name, email address, phone number, company name, and anything you include in a message or attachment when you contact TWS or ask for a quote
  • Account and billing details: your address and similar details when you sign up for a service or receive an invoice
  • Technical information: like any web server, the site records your IP address, browser type, internet service provider, date and time of your visit, the pages you came from and went to, and possibly the number of clicks. This is not linked to anything that identifies you personally. TWS uses it to analyse trends, run the site and see how visitors move around it

How TWS uses your information

TWS uses your information to:

  • Run, maintain and improve the website
  • Reply to you and provide the services you ask for
  • Send invoices and keep accounting records
  • Send updates and marketing emails, which you can unsubscribe from at any time
  • Understand how people use the website
  • Develop new services and features
  • Find and prevent fraud

TWS shares information only with the people who help it run the business, such as hosting and email providers, payment processors and Google. It also shares information when the law requires it. Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. TWS does not sell your personal information.

Cookies, Google and other third parties

Like most websites, this one uses cookies. They store your preferences and the pages you visited, so TWS can adjust the site's content to your browser and device.

Google is a third-party vendor on the site. It uses cookies, including DART cookies, to show ads to visitors based on their visits to this site and others. You can decline DART cookies through Google's ad and content network privacy policy.

Other advertisers and websites have their own privacy policies, and this policy doesn't cover them. Read theirs for details on their practices and on how to opt out. You can also turn cookies off in your browser settings. Each browser's website explains how.

Security, retention and children

TWS protects your information with reasonable technical and organisational measures. No online system is completely secure, so TWS can't promise absolute security.

TWS keeps personal information only for as long as it needs it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Invoices and other financial records are kept for at least five years, as South African tax law requires.

The website is not aimed at children. TWS does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think your child has given TWS their information, contact TWS and it will be removed promptly.

Your rights and how to contact TWS

You can ask TWS to:

  • Tell you what personal information it holds about you, and give you a copy (TWS may charge the prescribed fee)
  • Correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Delete your personal information, where the law allows
  • Restrict or stop using your information, or object to how TWS uses it
  • Move your information to another organisation, where this applies
  • Stop sending you marketing emails

TWS replies to requests within one month. To make one, email info@tailoredwebsitesolutions.co.za or use the contact page.

If you are unhappy with how TWS handles your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). If you are in the EU, UK or Switzerland, you have the same rights under your local data protection law, such as the GDPR, and TWS handles your requests the same way.
